Notes Home – Thursday, October 24, 2019

We are sad to pass on the news that Ms. Audrey’s last day will be next Friday, November 1st.  While we search for a permanent person Ms. Melissa will be helping us out in the office in the mornings.

Early pickups – If you have a child who needs to be picked up between 2:00 and 3:15, we ask that you be prepared to wait while we get them from their class.  We now often have 6-10 children being picked up early and because there is typically only one person in the office at that time, should we have to leave the office, we need to take the children with us and that’s disruptive walking through the school and confusing for the youngest children.  Thank you for you cooperation and patience.

School Pictures:

Please return order forms on or before your child’s picture day.

Tuesday, October 29 – Ms. April and Ms. Lori’s classes

Wednesday, October 30 – Mrs. Corn and Mrs. Theriac’s classes

Thursday, October 31 – Ms. Sarah and Mr. R’s classes

Day of the Dead Celebration Saturday, November 2nd at Central Park in downtown Henderson from 4:00 – 7:00 PM.

Come celebrate with us:  Mexican dancers, craft activities for children (sugar skull decorating, face painting, tin crafting, tortilla making, flower tissue and papel picado making, etc.) and ends with a parade!

Background:  Montessori is joining efforts with the city of Henderson to host this community (free) cultural event.  The Mexican holiday Day of the Dead is a celebration of loved ones who have passed.

Volunteers needed:  See below.  This is a wonderful event to be a role model for community service with/for our children and help celebrate the cultural diversity in our community.

Day of the Dead Volunteers:   We will need up to 60 volunteers on the day of the celebration.  We’ve included a link to show where we’ll need help on Saturday, November 2nd.

When you click on the link, there are videos included with each activity if you would like to know what’s involved before you sign-up.
